Our Trip to the Isle of Wight , Little Canada, PGL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 1

We arrived at PGL in the afternoon in time for dinner but we had a tour of the site before.  We found out where we would line up for activities, and then went to the dining hall to eat (WriterN was really, really hungry). Then we had our first activity with Holly which was Passport to the World where we had to get into groups of 5 and  find flags around the site. We needed to answer 3 questions to get 3 points and the team that had the most points won. After that we went back to our cabins to have a shower, brush our teeth, change into our pyjamas and get comfortable to go to bed. We were allowed to talk quietly until 10:00.

Day 2

The teachers woke us up at 7:00 so we could get changed and get ready for breakfast. We had a few minutes to have a shower (for those who didn’t have a shower the day before) but the shower was really, really, really cold and only had a minutes or a few seconds in the shower. Then, we had our first activity of the day.

For group 1 we did the giant swing.

For group 2 we did fencing.

For group 3 we did trapeze.

After that, we dragon boating with all 3 of the groups and had a race between both of the boats. One of them were very successful and the other one was very wet at the end as they got splashed a lot.

We had lunch at 12:30.  We felt like it was dinner time because we hadn’t had lunch at PGL yet.

We had a bit of time to chill out before we had our 3rd activity.

For group 1 we went on the zip wire.

For group 2 we did orienteering.

For group 3 we did orienteering with group 2.

The day was really hot but group 1 still did orienteering and group 2 went on the zip wire. Group 3 had buggy building (in the SUN) which could be a bit exhausting.

Then we had 15 to 20 minutes to get ready for dinner, playing in the field and for the campfire (we had this as the last activity of the day).

The campfire was really, really, really fun. We had repeat after me songs, action songs and sing-along songs. The fire was quite big and we all had a lot of fun.

Day 3

In the morning, we woke up and had breakfast and went to our first activity.

For group 1 we had challenge course.

For group 2 we had vertical challenge.

For group 3 we had archery.

We quickly went to our meeting point for our second activity of the day.

For group 1 we had vertical challenge (it was exciting and a little bit weird but overall the routes were fun).

For group 2 we had the challenge course (we had obstacle course and our favourite one was a wall).

For group 3 we had sensory trail (we got very muddy and wet after it because the teachers kept pouring water onto us).

After we went back to our cabins so we (the people who did the sensory trail) could have a shower and change into clean clothes. Then we went to the gift shop where most of us bought sweets. Then we had lunch. There was a wrap, pork, nachos and salad (optional). To drink there was water and orange squash. We went back to our cabins and had a bit of calm down time before heading off to our next activities.

For group 1 we had aeroball.

For group 2 we had sensory trail (some people thought it was horrible).

For group 3 we had vertical challenge (and some of us had a race to the top (only 2 people raced each other)).

Then, because some of our groups didn’t have a teacher, had to go to their next activity on their own. Our last activities of the day were:

For group 1 we had sensory trail.

For group 2 we had aeroball.

For group 3 we had the challenge course.

After we had a few minutes to get a shower before we had our dinner. Then we went out to the field and Mr Barrie told us that it was Wacky Wednesday so we should play calmly because we must have eaten too much sugar (or sweets). Most of us played a game of dodgeball. But others did a calmer game which was talking or reading or doing crosswords, word searches and sudoku or playing with a football or catching an Australian football (or, for me, typing).

Then we played a massive game of Cluedo. We went around to people in costumes, and asked them to tick off suspects, weapons, and places where the murder was committed. We had lots of fun, because we had to do challenges to get information. These challenges included riddles, making up raps, shoe stacking, making the longest line with everything you have on you and charades. We had an amazing midnight feast. We ate pretzel sticks, harribos and much more.

Day 4

We woke up bright and early and headed for the canteen. The food was really good! Then we went off to the meeting areas ,so we could do our first activity.

For group 1 we had archery ( we played lots of games)

For group 2 we had problem solving (we had to work as a team)

For group 3 we had zip wire ( we had to learn how to unclip from the wire and sometimes the instructor would take off our shoes)

Quickly we headed to the meeting point of the next activity.

For group 1 it was problem solving( it challenged our brain power)

For group 2 it was giant swing ( it felt like flying)

For group 3 it was  aeroball ( it was really tiring )

Then it was time for lunch. We were all really hungry . For lunch it was pasta with a cheese sauce and chicken. We went back to our cabins so people could have a shower after all the sweating they did in aeroball. It was then time for our third activity of the day.

For group 1 it was buggy building ( we had to work as a team)

For group 2 it was trapeze (it was really scary)

For group 3 it was giant swing( our stomach was left at the top)

It was then time for our final day activity

For group 1 it was trapeze

For group 2 it was buggy building

For group 3 it was problem solving

We then had dinner, which was rice and a really spicy curry. After that, we went to the field . Most people played quiet games like talking ,reading or playing handclap games, but others spent their time playing with baseball bats.It was then time for  ambush. We hid in some bushes and waited for the other team to find us; unfortunately someone found us. Then it was time to find the other team, which we didn’t because they hid out of bounds. They then went a gain ,and this time I found them. Finally it was time for us all to go to bed. (Or so the teachers thought) My cabin decided that we would celebrate, with sweets ,cookies and all the leftovers from the night before. We then talked about secrets and funny moments in our life.

Day 5

Our last day : (    We were all excited to be going home , but sad that we were leaving   PGL. We all had to pack are bags (or finish packing). We then had to take off our bedding so it could be cleaned. It was then that everyone had a moment, where they realised that we were actually going home! We then finally had to empty the bin, and then we were of to breakfast. We all ate up knowing this was the best breakfast we’d  have for a long time. After breakfast, we went to our activity meeting point.

For group 1 it was fencing

For group 2 it was archery

For group 3 it was matrix

We all had lots of fun at our activities and then it was time for our next activity.

For group 1 it was matrix

For group 2 it was matrix

For group 3 it was fencing

We had lots of fun at our last activity but we were all really tired, so we went over to the cafeteria to gain some energy. We had some delicious chicken burgers, and then we went onto the field for the PGL awards. There were awards for people who the group(or team)nominated because they thought that they did really well by being brave positive or just always giving something a go.

For group one ,the award went to Leo.

Leo was really brave on all the rope activities. He also lifted everyone’s spirits when we were all wet and miserable after sensory trail. All in all he was a star.

For group 2, the award went to Ruby.

Ruby was extremely kind and helpful throughout the whole of PGL. She stayed positive even when she was scared on activities. All in all she as a star.

For group 3, the award went to Emma.

Emma gave every activity her all. She comforted people when they were scared or upset because of activities. She was really kind to all. All in all, she was a star.

Then it was time for the tidiest room award. I was pretty sure that my room wouldn’t get the prize; and I was right. The award went to room eighteen. We had a quick play and then we went to collect our luggage. We loaded it onto the coach, and then we were off. We drove for half an hour until we reached the ferry, where we got off the coach. Most people spent their time talking, but I spent my time typing yesterday’s blog. The ferry then started nearing land and we made our way down to the coach. We watched cars 2 twice ! And after all that, it was time for us to be picked up by our parents. So hot, sweaty and tired, we made our way home.
