Mr Dinner: Tales of a Bear
Based on a childhood story…
Mr Dinner was a small purple bear. He was furry and cute, and he travelled the country as part of his job in the civil service, but there was another side to Mr Dinner…
One day, Mr Dinner was attending a conference by the seaside, and he was relaxing in a local café, enjoying a dinner of fish and chips like any other tourist, when he glanced out of the window and saw a seagull watching him.
“What are you looking at?” Mr Dinner shouted at the seagull, who just continued to stare.
Mr Dinner could feel himself getting more and more irate. “What are you looking at?” Mr Dinner shouted again, but the seagull continued to stare.
Mr Dinner could feel his anger boiling over and he threw an empty can at the seagull, who still just continued to stare. His blank, unblinking stare fuelling Mr Dinner’s anger even more.
Mr Dinner let out a guttural scream as he started to charge at the seagull but he found that his legs were no longer moving. He was being held in a vice like grip by a policeman.
“Around here we not tolerated this sort of behaviour”, the policeman stated, throwing Mr Dinner in the back of a police van. As Mr Dinner looked out of the window, he saw the seagull who was now crackling away with glee.
Mr Dinner was held overnight in the police station, but if you thought that had taught he a lesson you’d be wrong. Mr Dinner had another side to his cute and cuddly character and it would appear again…

This is seriously dark – you never know what’s going on inside some of the innocuous characters you pass every day. I’m intrigued about the reasons for Mr Dinner’s pent up rage and how it will next manifest itself. 🕴️
I’m very much looking forward to the next episode. I’ll also be approaching civil servants with a new-found wariness. Note to self: Do Not Stare… 👀

This was based a story of a bear that my dad used to take with him on his work travels. Mr Bear was a very clever bear who sent us postcards!
