Show-jumping was originally created in the twentieth century in Italy as a discipline to put less stress on the horse. Later on, it was used to train military horses and riders but now it is a sport for all riders. Here is a guide on how to jump properly:

Technique:

Though it may seem simple, show-jumping is a complex and technical disciple which takes a long time to learn.

Technique 1: Rise in your when your horse jumps – this makes you less likely to fall off and allows your horse to jump higher.

Technique 2: Look UP when you jump – your head is the heaviest part of your body so don’t make the job harder for your horse.

Technique 3: Be confident while you jump – if your horse senses that you are nervous, he will be nervous too.

Rules:

Refusal: this is if your horse refuses to jump and it will give you a 4 second penalty.

Fall: this is if you fall off your horse at any time in the competition and it immediately disqualifies you.

Knock over: this is if your horse knocks over a bar and it will give you a 4 second penalty.

If you get three faults, you will be disqualified.

Happy Jumping!!!
